Kimya S.P. Johnson joined the firm’s Philadelphia office in November 2008 as an associate in the General Litigation Department, practicing in the Labor & Employment Group. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate with Alston & Bird LLP in New York.
Kimya focuses her practice on labor and employment matters. She regularly handles state and federal employment discrimination claims, wage-payment issues and ERISA-related benefit denial claims, among others. She also actively represents clients on a pro bono basis.
Kimya is a member of several bar associations and civic organizations. Prior to entering law school, she served as a public elementary school teacher in South Bronx, N.Y., through the Teach for America (AmeriCorps) program.
Kimya earned her law degree,
cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where she was a member of the National Moot Court team and earned the Labor and Employment Law and Contracts Law awards for being the top-ranked student in these subject areas. In addition, she received the Martin Luther King, Jr., Milton Kramer Law Clinic and Student Leadership Awards. She earned her masters degree from Columbia University and her undergraduate degree,
cum laude, from Spelman College, where she was the first student selected for the Spelman/Dartmouth Exchange Program.
Kimya is admitted to the New York Bar and her admission to the Pennsylvania Bar is currently pending.
