Jennifer Brandt, a member of the firm's Family Law Department, was a guest on The Willis Report on the Fox Business Network today. Jennifer discussed a recent decision in New York state court wherein a judge allowed a woman to keep her $53,000 engagement ring. Louis Billittier, Jr., broke up with his fiancé Christa Clark via text message. When Clark angrily replied to the text message, Billittier responded, "Plus you get a $50,000 parting ring. Enough for a down payment on a house." Judge Russell Buscaglia ruled last week that this message indicated the ring was no longer involved in a marriage contract, but was now a parting gift.
