Michael F. Henry is a member of the Global Insurance Group resident in the Philadelphia office. He heads the firm’s arson and fraud practice area, which handles cases involving suspected fraudulent and/or exaggerated property and fidelity insurance claims, including burglaries and arson cases. The group also handles complex business income claims, suspicious water loss claims, factually complex coverage cases, as well as bad-faith claims against insurers.
In his more than 32 years of civil practice, Michael has handled numerous complex coverage and fraud-related claims and cases, and secured defense verdicts in Jury trials and arbitrations. He has secured many summary judgments and judgments on the pleadings for insurers in various cases on complex coverage business interruption, extra contractual and on fraud, misrepresentation and concealment-related grounds. He has also handled many insurance-related bad faith claims and cases against insurance company clients in fraud and coverage cases.
Michael is a 1968 graduate of Villanova University, a Vietnam veteran, and a 1973 graduate of Villanova University School of Law, where he served on the moot court board. Upon graduation from Villanova University School of Law, he was employed with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and remained an assistant district attorney from 1972 to December of 1980, where he served in numerous trial and administrative leader positions. He left as the head of the motions unit and had been assistant chief of the major trial unit. He handled all civil rights and habeas corpus cases on appeal in the Federal and state systems. He was selected a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" a number of times by his peers, appearing in Philadelphia magazine and Pennsylvania Super Lawyers.
