PHILADELPHIA, October 25, 2019 — Bruce Ficken, chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Construction law Group, Larry Laubach, chair of the firm’s Corporate Law Practice Group, and Elizabeth Malloy, member of the Labor and Employment Group, were named to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2019 “Best of the Bar.” The award recognizes attorneys who have distinguished themselves over the past 18 months in their respective areas of concentration.
Ficken is a recognized authority in representing clients in construction and commercial litigation, as well as managing risk in construction projects. As lead counsel he has successfully conducted more than 60 major trials in the United States and in international arbitrations. He has also helped numerous owners and developers with contract documentation, contract and project administration, and dispute avoidance and resolution. Ficken is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and as a mediator he has successfully helped resolve major construction disputes.
Laubach focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and securities matters for public and private companies in a wide variety of industries. He has extensive experience in acquisition transactions, including mergers involving public and private companies, stock acquisitions and divestitures, and asset purchases and sales. Laubach represents large and middle market companies, strategic and financial buyers and sellers, and family office and other institutional investors.
Malloy concentrates her practice in the areas of employment litigation, employment law, and serving as a neutral investigator of employment-related claims, as well as student complaints in the educational sector. Malloy has represented employers in diverse industries in employment litigation, from single plaintiff cases to class action lawsuits. She has substantial experience with employers in retail, health care, energy, and manufacturing of all types.
