PHILADELPHIA, November 1, 2022 — Cozen O'Connor's Technology, Privacy & Data Security practice group has launched a new podcast, the Cyber Law Monitor. Hosted by Technology, Privacy & Data Security Chair Andrew Baer, each episode will offer listeners fresh perspectives and elucidating discussions on emerging trends, developments, and best practices in the rapidly developing world of technology law.
"As this is such a developing field, staying abreast of what is going on in cyberlaw and privacy is easier said than done. Our goal with this new podcast is to deliver insights about cutting-edge topics in a digestible way with a laid-back framework," says Baer.
Highly regarded in the field, Baer advises clients on buy- and sell-side technology transactions that typically involve cloud computing, data privacy, IP, software, and security and interactive marketing regulatory compliance. An author and frequent guest lecturer at the Wharton School and other universities, he previously served as chief legal officer of a Philadelphia health-tech company and as technology and privacy counsel at Advanta Corp.
"The privacy and cyberlaw space, by its nature, is constantly evolving. One goal we have for the podcast is to be able to provide some insight regarding the constant flow of new laws, regulations, and enforcement actions," shares associate and podcast host Benjamin Mishkin. Mishkin is an associate in the Technology, Privacy & Data Security practice group and advises clients in complex data transactions, software agreements, and privacy matters.
Also joining the podcast is Technology, Privacy & Data Security associate Christopher Dodson. Dodson is a former software engineer who advises clients on regulatory compliance, technology contracts, and privacy matters.
In the inaugural episode, Baer and Mishkin discuss the five new state privacy laws in the U.S. which will go into effect in 2023, and how businesses can prepare for them.
