Charles-Khalil Batrouny, an associate in the Subrogation & Recovery Department, has been appointed to the Research Ethics Board of Health Canada and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). The board reviews all research involving humans conducted under the auspices of Health Canada and PHAC to ensure it meets the highest ethical standards, and the greatest protection is provided to research participants. The REB may also review research funded by Health Canada or PHAC through grants and contributions to external researchers who do not have access to another research ethics board.
Charles focuses his practice on subrogation & recovery for large commercial property losses. His practice involves handling all aspects of complex, multi-party, subrogation litigation and arbitration, with an emphasis on fire losses, floods, construction disputes, and large commercial property destruction. He has successfully advocated for his clients before the superior courts, appellate courts, and before panels of the most experienced arbitrators in Canada. He represents his clients across all Canadian provinces, and has been called to the Bar in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and has a temporary call to the Quebec Bar under Rule 42.1 of the Professional Code.
