PHILADELPHIA, July 7, 2023 — Evan Caplan, a member of Cozen O'Connor's Commercial Litigation Department, and James Mulcahy, a paralegal in Cozen O'Connor's Commercial Litigation Department, have been selected as Philadelphia VIP's June Volunteers of the Month. Philadelphia VIP was founded in 1981 by the Philadelphia Bar Association and Community Legal Services to meet the legal needs of low-income Philadelphians by recruiting and training attorneys to provide pro bono legal services. Each month, Philadelphia VIP chooses a volunteer to recognize for going above and beyond to help their clients resolve legal matters. Evan and Jim were previously recognized as Philadelphia VIP’s Volunteers of the Month in June 2014.
Evan has been working on various pro bono matters for VIP since 2006. These matters include providing VIP's clients access to medical benefits and health care coverage, preparing legal name change applications, and obtaining amended birth certificates. Jim provides invaluable assistance in preparing the required name change documentation, including client judgment searches, fingerprints, and publication efforts.
