He also discussed the Fed’s proposal to decrease the interchange fee banks can charge on debit card transactions. According to Brett, comments are due on February 12, but a final rule is likely to look very similar to the proposal. “I’m sure the debit interchange issue is as close to a done deal as you can get,” said Brett.
