Juan concentrates his practice on complex insurance coverage, bad faith, and commercial litigation. He regularly advises insurance companies by providing coverage and excess exposure opinions, assists with claims handling procedures, and litigates declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts. He has experience advising insurance carriers on a variety of policies, including commercial general liability, commercial property, employment practices liability, professional liability, cyber, marine, and directors and officers. Juan regularly advises carriers with regard to a variety of coverage issues, including construction defect, employment practices liability, catastrophic injuries, and additional insured status.
Prior to joining the firm, Juan was an associate at national and international law firms, where he focused his practice on insurance coverage and commercial litigation. Juan also represented corporations and financial institutions against individual and class action consumer financial services lawsuits involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and similar state statutes. He also has significant experience litigating complex product liability, wrongful death, and catastrophic injury cases.
Juan earned his bachelor’s of business administration, magna cum laude, from the Florida International University and his law degree from Florida International University College of Law. During law school, Juan interned with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Juan is fluent in Spanish.
