Nickname: I collected tolls on the Pennsylvania turnpike the summer before I went to law school, and everyone I worked with knew I was off to law school so they called me “counselor” (but with a Pittsburgh accent). That’s the only nickname that ever really stuck.

First Job: Golf Cart Attendant

Second Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Mint Chocolate Chip

Favorite App: FanDuel (only when in a state in which gambling is legal, of course)

Why I Like Working with Emerging Companies: As an advisor to a start-up, in addition to being a lawyer, you are in effect an educator to the founding team. Often, they’ve had little to no experience working with attorneys or navigating the legal system. It is thus your job as their counsel to distill what can be complicated and thorny legal problems into understandable pieces of information. I enjoy the challenge in doing that and find it rewarding to share my knowledge and experience.
