Mark Jacobson, Erik Swenson, and Tina Syring will be presenting various topics at the 2019 Association of Corporate Counsel's annual meeting. Mark and Tina will be presenting "Ties That Bind? The Law of Non-Competes and Related Agreements." All companies want loyal employees. To what extent can employment and post-employment "loyalty" be mandated by non-compete, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements? What strategic considerations are involved in deciding whether to enforce these agreements? When is it safe to raid your competitors and poach their employees (or agree not to do so)? How strong are the legal ties of loyalty that bind employee to employer? Mark and Tina will be joined by two senior in-house employment attorneys to present an informative discussion shaped by electronic feedback from attendees. Erik will be presenting "Drafting Global Intellectual Property Agreements." This program will focus on drafting global IP agreements with a focus on three or four countries, a mix of common law and civil law jurisdictions (e.g., US, India, France, and China). Each has its own legal system and nuances that make drafting cross-border license, development, and contract manufacturing agreements challenging. This program will also look at practical implications of drafting various provisions of these agreements.
