Cozen O'Connor already has an informal policy of allowing lawyers to work remotely, says Joe. The shift began with a previous initiative that allowed them to choose a desktop, laptop or tablet computer depending on the flexibility of their work location. He expects that the firm will adopt a written policy soon. "For a variety of reasons, including retaining lawyers and job satisfaction, there has been somewhat of a sea change in law firms' attitudes toward working at home," Joe says. "Showing this sort of flexibility is important."
