Shakema Appleton Named Philadelphia Business Journal Women of Distinction Rising Star

Philadelphia, October 31, 2019 — Shakema Appleton, diversity data analyst with Cozen O’Connor, was named a 2019 Philadelphia Business Journal Women of Distinction Rising Star. In addition to her focus on diversity analytics, Appleton has been a critical ally in supporting the firm’s LGBTQ+ Staff Employee ERG. With her help, the Staff LGBTQ+ ERG has become more visible throughout the organization. She is a member of the board of the Philadelphia Chapter of The Society for Human Recourses Management and is currently getting her doctorate in Human and Organizational Psychology. 

The Philadelphia Business Journal spotlights annually influential businesswomen in our region through our Women of Distinction Awards. This year, the publication received more than 250 nominations, selecting only 30 women for the honor of Women of Distinction; three of the 30 were honored as Rising Stars.
