Courts Give “Thumbs Down” to Pennsylvania Employees Terminated For Social Media Posts [PHRA]

Alan Pittler wrote an article about three separate lawsuits brought by Pennsylvania employees who were terminated for social media posts. These cases illustrate that employers may lawfully discipline employees for personal social media posts that violate the employer’s policies or core values, provided employers adhere to the same legal principles applicable to any other disciplinary action. Alan discussed the following lawsuits, Ellis v. Bank of NY Mellon Corp., Koslosky v. American Airlines, Inc., and Carr v. Commonwealth of PA, Dept. of Transportation.
