Steven concentrates his practice on commercial real estate, banking, and insolvency law. Clients benefit from his over 40 years of experience and strong business background. He regularly handles asset acquisitions and dispositions, issues related to banking and finance, commercial real estate, mortgage enforcement and workouts, insolvency matters, joint ventures, and variances.
A Certified Specialist in Real Estate by the Law Society of Ontario and recognized as a expert witness in real estate law in the Courts of the Province of Ontario, Steven is frequently called upon to lecture and publish on real estate law issues. He's actively involved in teaching the next generation of lawyers, currently serving as an adjunct professor on the faculty of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Steven is also a past chair of the Ontario Bar Association Real Property Section, a former instructor of the bar admission course for the Law Society of Upper Canada, and a member of the editorial board for Falconbridge on Mortgages, Fifth Edition.
Before joining Cozen O'Connor, Steven was a partner in the real estate group of a midsized business law firm in Toronto. Previously, he was the managing partner of a Toronto law firm and operated a real estate investment company.
