Toronto, October 1 – Cozen O’Connor welcomes Michael Bailey as senior counsel to the firm’s Toronto office. Michael brings more than 30 years of litigation experience and will work with the Subrogation & Recovery Department.
“Michael brings a wealth of legal knowledge and experience to this position,” said Raj Datt, co-chair of the firm’s Subrogation and Recovery Group and Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Toronto office. “His extensive leadership experience and wide ranging legal knowledge will be an asset to both our office and our clients. We are pleased to welcome Michael to our team.”
Michael focuses his practice on all areas of Commercial and Corporate litigation, with significant experience in areas ranging from insurance and risk management to constitutional issues and treaty-based aboriginal land claims. He has held positions of leadership at various law firms since 1988, ranging from a litigation department head to an office managing partner.
Because of his experience, Michael has been sought out as a speaker for seminars on civil litigation and procedure, construction and insurance litigation, and trial advocacy at various organizations, including the Canadian Bar Association and the Society of Insurance Fellows. He has also been an instructor at the University of Calgary, teaching a business law course.

Michael received his Master of Arts in English and his LL.B from the University of Alberta. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary.
