Kevin Bush, vice chair of the West Region of the firm's Subrogation & Recovery department, will be honored with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program Pro Bono Publico award at SDVLP’s “Justice for All” Dinner on September 14. The celebration brings together members of the legal community who are committed to increasing access to justice to honor this year’s award recipients and to recognize the service of its many volunteers.
Kevin has been working with the SDVLP for 15 years, primarily handling guardianship cases. Kevin has represented clients who want to take on the responsibility of caring for children whose parents have abandoned them or are unable to care for them. He has also worked in the education clinic, assisting parents and guardians with obtaining special education status for their children when the school district has declined to provide the additional services their children need. Kevin says that “I am very grateful the firm has for many years encouraged pro bono work. It really has given me a greater satisfaction in practicing law.”
Kevin’s practice includes subrogation cases in California and Arizona involving fire losses, flood losses, products liability cases, construction defect cases, inverse condemnation cases, interstate transit cases and maritime cases. Kevin received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Westmont College in 1981. He earned his law degree, magna cum laude, at the University of San Diego in 1985 where he was a member of the University of San Diego Law Review from 1983-1985.
