On December 7, 2021, the Women’s White Collar Defense Association will hold its third annual Awards Gala to honor this year's achievements of women attorneys in the areas of white-collar defense, government enforcement, investigations, and compliance.
The WWCDA was founded and has grown under the leadership of remarkable women who came from Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Miami, and Los Angeles, and who saw a need to connect and collaborate and made the decision to use their platform to create change. The gala will pay a tribute to these trailblazers for their leadership and contribution to advancing women in the white collar profession, and for paving the way for what is known today as the WWCDA.
Among those remarkable trailblazers is Biz Van Gelder, who has dedicated her career to growing and advancing the ranks of women attorneys in the white collar defense field. Over the last four+ decades, Biz has had the backs of dozens of younger women attorneys and she continues to be an inspiring leader and a hands-on mentor — that is, a supporter, defender, champion, teacher, and friend — to every attorney in the firm’s White Collar Defense & Investigations group. For Biz’s part, she says she is astounded by the quantity and quality of the women now working in the white collar defense area. We all know what a huge role Biz played in blazing those trails, and it is wonderful that the WWCDA will recognize a lifetime of contributions Biz has made to the field.
