On July 11, the firm’s Women’s Initiative and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee co-hosted a summer associate event titled Hollywood on Trial: Images of Women in Law. This was a multimedia presentation, authored by Elizabeth Weitzman, which contextualized essential issues like gatekeeping, diversity, and inclusion through fascinating cultural and historical images of women in law. Using film and TV portrayals that span a full century, Weitzman illustrated the dramatically varied ways popular culture has reflected and redefined our views of women in law.
Elizabeth Weitzman is an award-winning journalist, speaker, movie critic, and the bestselling author of more than 20 books on a wide range of subjects. Her most recent book is Renegade Women in Film & TV, which chronicles the remarkable hidden history of cultural pioneers onscreen and behind the scenes. She has also written for the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, Smithsonian, Marie Claire, and Harper’s Bazaar.
