Aaron Holt will present “The Law on Free Speech, Politics, and Social Media in the Workplace” for members of the Texas Bay Area Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. Aaron will discuss the legal framework surrounding employee speech, including the First Amendment, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the National Labor Relations Act, relevant state laws, and recent updates to these regulations. He will provide example cases from Texas and federal court decisions interpreting what constitutes protected speech. He will also explore proactive strategies to reduce the risk of litigation arising from adverse employment actions or policies related to social media.
