PHILADELPHIA, March 12, 2013 – The Villanova Law Alumni Association will honor Thomas G. Wilkinson of Cozen O’Connor’s Litigation Department, at its annual Alumni Reception and Awards Program, on March 21 at the National Constitution Center. Tom, along with his wife Kathleen, will receive the Gerald Abraham Award for Service to Villanova University School of Law. Tom and Kathleen hold the respective positions of president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Tom’s service to the law school has included teaching the three credit course on professional responsibility, in addition to holding several leadership positions with the Villanova Law J. Willard O'Brien American Inn of Court, including as program chair, membership chair and on the nominating and awards committees. He has also presented at the law school as a guest lecturer on legal ethics and at orientation and activity fairs for students concerning the benefits of membership in the organized bar. Tom is the co-editor of the Pennsylvania Ethics Handbook, a comprehensive review of the rules of conduct governing lawyers, with extensive citations to case decisions and ethics opinions addressing all aspects of lawyer-client relationships.
Tom is a past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, a member of the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates and co-chair of the conflicts of interest subcommittee for the Section of Litigation's Ethics and Professionalism Committee. He is an appointed member of the ABA Task Force on International Trade in Legal Services. Tom has also served on the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Board of Governors and as co-chair of its State Civil Litigation Section. He is a 1981 graduate of the law school, where he was the managing editor of the Villanova Law Review.
