Cozen O’Connor attorneys are representing Pennsylvania-based Utz Quality Foods Inc., the family-owned potato chip and snack-food company, in its recently announced $135 million acquisition of Golden Enterprises Inc. The acquisition is the largest by Utz, according to Dylan Lissette, the company’s chief executive officer. Larry P. Laubach, chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Corporate Practice Group, serves as lead counsel for the transaction team, which also includes Richard J. Busis, Gregory P. Cunningham, Eileen T. Salimbene and Eli S. Wolfe. Golden Enterprises Inc. is a publicly traded Birmingham, Alabama-based maker of Golden Flake chips and other snack products. As the snack market grows more competitive from foreign manufacturers and competition to purchase local U.S. brands, the new acquisition will help Utz maintain its place in the market.
