NEW YORK – APRIL 15, 2019 – Cozen O’Connor welcomes litigator Daniel Goodstadt — who for nearly a decade has represented/defended New York City-based companies embroiled in labor, personal injury, and construction industry-related insurance claims — to its Global Insurance department. A former partner with Gottlieb Siegel & Schwartz LLP, Goodstadt joins the firm as a member and will work out of its downtown Manhattan office.
Goodstadt’s insurance track record includes handling a range of high exposure, personal injury and labor law lawsuits at both the trial and appellate levels. As such, he will play a key role in managing construction industry-related insurance disputes, including those involving premises liability, products liability and catastrophic injury claims.
Goodstadt represents clients in all aspects of civil litigation in New York State Court proceedings. His experience includes serving as second seat on trials and conducting voir dire for jury selections; overseeing discovery motions and conferences; conducting client, plaintiff and co-defendant dispositions; overseeing all aspects of written discovery, including pleadings, responses and requests for discovery; and engaging in motions for summary judgment and appeals.
In a recent lawsuit Goodstadt obtained summary judgment on an eight-figure case that involved multiple plaintiffs claiming severe personal injuries at a construction site. In a similar catastrophic injury matter, he obtained summary judgment on behalf of the client by clearly demonstrating the plaintiffs’ failure to raise a triable issue as to whether the client created the alleged dangerous condition or had actual of knowledge it.
Goodstadt earned his J.D. at Brooklyn Law School, Brooklyn, N.Y., and his B.A. in history at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, N.C.
