Cozen O’Connor is pleased to announce the donation of $25,000 to the PHL COVID-19 Fund, a multi-sector initiative to help respond to the immediate demands of the community led jointly by the Philadelphia Foundation and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. The donations received are supporting relief and response work by nonprofits in the Greater Philadelphia Area, five Pennsylvania counties, and five Southern New Jersey counties.
“We as a firm feel very fortunate that we have the opportunity to give back to our local community during such a difficult time,” said Vince McGuinness, President and Managing Partner at Cozen O’Connor. “Giving back to the communities where we work is a founding principal of our firm and its charitable organization the Cozen O’Connor Foundation. We are lucky to be in a place financially to help others who are suffering during this unprecedented time.” Since its inception on March 19, the fund has raised over $16 million and already announced five rounds of grants, totaling over $13 million back into the community across more than 383 organizations including, Maternity Care Coalition (MCC), Betters Tomorrow, and Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
Cozen O’Connor is the only law firm that has donated to the fund thus far. Other companies who have donated to the fund include Independence Blue Cross, Wells Fargo, and Target. “It is great to see so many different organizations and companies coming together as one to support those who have been negatively impacted by this pandemic,” said James Davis, Government Relations Principal at Cozen O’Connor. “The fund brings together a diverse coalition of philanthropy, government and business partners, all joined together as one unified local community to create a regional rapid response fund to support nonprofits at the frontline of COVID response.”
