Jed Bayer has been named Philadelphia VIP’s Volunteer of the Month. Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program (VIP) is dedicated to providing indigent individuals equal access to the legal system in civil matters by referring them to volunteer lawyers, paralegals, and others who provide legal services free of charge. Jed accepts VIP cases at a steady pace and encourages associates to do the same. As the recognition mentions, “in his pro bono work through VIP, Jed keeps one objective always in mind: “I want to help my clients end up in a better place than they would be without representation." It's a powerful goal, especially when applied to Jed's chosen service area, eviction defense. Low-income tenants face catastrophic collateral effects when forced to navigate eviction proceedings on their own, as over 90% have to do in Philadelphia. Jed's example shows the extraordinary difference a volunteer attorney can make."
