Michael Schmidt was quoted in Newsday discussing how state and federal agencies haven't provided clear guidance on whether a business can require workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has taken the position that employers "generally can mandate a flu vaccine unless the employee has a lawful religious exemption" or a medical condition that precludes vaccination, he said. Someone with a philosophical or political objection to vaccines would not qualify for a religious exemption, he said.
