MINNEAPOLIS, February 16, 2022 — Cozen O’Connor corporate attorney Katheryn Gettman, a member in the firm’s Minneapolis office, has been named by Twin Cities Business Magazine to its 2022 Notable Women in Law list.
This list of 29 women attorneys recognizes those who effect change in their roles and areas of practice, serve as role models or mentors to other women attorneys, and promote inclusive practices in the workplace.
Nominated by their peers at work and in the community, these attorneys are making their mark in courtrooms, boardrooms, and beyond, helping set legal precedents, winning cases of national significance, founding and managing firms, and mentoring the next wave of leaders — all while finding time to give back to their communities.
Gettman will be profiled in the February/March issue of Twin Cities Business and online at tcbmag.com.
Gettman brings almost two decades of experience as an internal/external corporate counsel, providing both legal and business guidance to corporations, executives, and private business owners, primarily by acting as their outside general counsel. She advises on mergers and acquisitions, corporate securities and other corporate transactions. Gettman represents public companies, closely held businesses and emerging growth companies in capital raise transactions, debt financing, and the private placement of securities.
With both an M.B.A and B.B.A., in addition to her law degree, she also advises on a wide range of general business matters, from vendor and customer contract negotiations, credit facilities, operations and project financing, and competitor disputes, to intellectual property and software license-master services, and web-based services agreements. Gettman’s clients are as diverse as her background and include those operating in the health care, software, manufacturing, professional services, and investment industries.
“We congratulate Katie on her Notable Women in Law award. Before joining Cozen O’Connor, Katie served as in-house counsel, a private practitioner, and a business founder and entrepreneur,” said Larry Laubach, co-chair of Cozen O’Connor’s Corporate practice. “With this unique background, Katie is regularly sought by businesses looking to grow aggressively. She is an incredibly hard worker, a gifted team builder and well respected as a business-community facilitator, mentor and thought leader, who regularly brings her clients and community leaders together in joint projects.”
Gettman earned her M.B.A. (with honors, 2003) and J.D. (cum laude, 2003) from Willamette University and her B.A. and B.B.A. (cum laude, 1999) from the University of Minnesota.
