NEW YORK – May 5, 2022 - Cozen O’Connor is pleased to announce that Melissa Brill, co-chair of the firm’s Global Insurance Department, has been elected for membership into the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC). The FDCC comprises U.S. and international civil defense litigators, senior corporate counsel, and insurance claims executives and is dedicated to promoting knowledge, fellowship, and professionalism for lawyers and other professionals striving to achieve a balanced justice system in the defense of civil lawsuits.
Membership in the FDCC is limited, selective, and by nomination only, requires a requires a rigorous peer review. Nominees and nominees must exhibit high professional standing and good moral character while being leaders in-house and in the courthouse.
Brill represents commercial general liability, professional liability, excess/umbrella liability, and property insurers in complex litigation throughout the country, including bad faith disputes. She counsels and represents insurers with regard to a wide variety of coverage issues, including construction defect, dram shop, product liability, mass toxic tort, additional insured status, and priority of coverage. Brill also represents clients in commercial litigation and appeals. Brill represents indigent clients in pro bono matters and has served on the Board of Directors of Homesite Insurance Company of New York and non-profits, including Young Leadership Counsel, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Park Slope Afterschool Center Corps (PSACC).
