John Ho discussed in Benefit News how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is increasing safety efforts in 2023. OSHA can now issue instance-by-instance or IBI citations for serious violations of OSHA standards. Previously, IBI citations required substantial proof of willful-egregious violations. John said that more citations mean penalties, and careless employers could face hefty bills. "OSHA has made it clear that they are actively engaged in more rule-making than during Trump's administration," he said. "What better way to incentivize employers to do the right thing than hitting them where it hurts: their pocketbooks."
