James Sullivan was quoted in SHRM discussing a new proposed rule by the U.S. Department of Labor to broaden who can be authorized to accompany OSHA compliance officers during workplace inspections. The proposed rule would "give the union the ability to speak with the employees and get further information during the walkaround. It's not about safety," said James. "The risk now is an uninformed employer may not be careful enough that outsiders are not with that OSHA inspector. They could be bullied or intimated into allowing somebody to be exposed to that trade secret area," he said.
