As the issue of housing insecurity continues to heighten, the outcome of these suits may be detrimental to tenants who benefit from limited annual rent adjustments under the rent stabilization law.

“If the litigation knocks it out, then certainly property owners and the landlord industry will use results from the New York litigation to oppose new legislation either at the local or state level," Steve stated.
