Pittsburgh, December 1, 2023 — Sidnee McDonald, an associate in the firm’s Labor & Employment Department, has been named to the Young Professionals Advisory Board of the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition (PLDIC) and will serve as the Penn State Law liaison. She will serve a three-year term. Created to foster a culture of inclusion, the PLDIC educates and assists Pittsburgh area legal employers in increasing the hiring, retention, and inclusion of legal professionals from diverse backgrounds. As a Young Professionals Advisory Board member, Sidnee will provide advice and suggestions to PLDIC committees and working groups, focusing on issues relevant to new attorneys, to help inform programming and resources. She will also participate in selecting and completing a project designed to address a diversity, equity, and inclusion challenge PLDIC members have.
Sidnee has experience advising and counseling clients on many employment matters, including compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and drafting independent contractor, master service, and employment agreements. She also has experience drafting position statements and motions to dismiss, responding to discovery requests, reviewing employee handbooks, and conducting workplace investigations. She earned her law degree from Penn State Law. While in law school, Sidnee took an active leadership role in many student organizations, including as chair of the Executive Board of Moot Court. She was recognized for her leadership with several awards, including the Penn State Law Leadership Award and the National Black Law Student Association (NBLSA) Officer of the Year Award. Prior to law school, Sidnee earned her master's in public administration and bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport.
