CHICAGO, June 28, 2024 — Lawdragon has named Cozen O’Connor attorneys Mark Felger and Brian Shaw, both members in the firm’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring practice, to its 2024 list of the Top 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers.

Lawdragon, a Los Angeles-based network for lawyers and clients, produces the annual list of the nation’s top bankruptcy and restructuring lawyers. Among other accolades, Felger and Shaw have been recognized for excelling in financial restructuring in and outside of the courtroom and finding financing and acquirers for distressed companies. The selection is based on journalistic research, submissions by firms and clients, and vetting by peers.

Mark Felger, co-chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring practice, works out of Cozen O’Connor’s Wilmington, Del., office, which he founded and served as office managing partner for over 20 years. He focuses on areas of chapter 11 reorganization and general insolvency law and has represented all constituencies in corporate restructurings and insolvencies both in and out of Chapter 11, including debtors, creditors’ committees, and acquirers in section 363 sale proceedings. He also has a substantial practice representing chapter 7 trustees in complex chapter 7 proceedings.

Felger is a certified mediator for the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and maintains an active mediation practice. He has been appointed to serve as mediator in several hundred proceedings and has successfully mediated more than 200 matters, including WARN litigation, breach of fiduciary duty actions, avoidance litigation, and claim disputes. A fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, Felger is also certified by the American Board of Certification in business bankruptcy.

Brian Shaw, also a member of the firm’s Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring practice, works out of Cozen O’Connor’s Chicago office. He focuses his practice on financial restructuring, bankruptcy, and other in- and out-of-court distressed solutions, along with attendant litigation, representing debtors, creditors, and other parties-in-interest in proceedings throughout the country. He has guided chapter 11 debtors, chapter 7 and 11 trustees, creditors’ and noteholders’ committees, assignees, landlords, liquidating trustees, labor organizations, preference and fraudulent conveyance defendants, receivers, and secured and unsecured creditors through all aspects of bankruptcy, insolvency, and restructuring.

Shaw currently serves on The American College of Bankruptcy Board of Regents. He previously served as president of the American Bankruptcy Institute and has chaired the Chicago Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization Section. Shaw is also a regular contributor on bankruptcy issues for Law360.
