More Questions Than Answers for OSHA with Second Trump Term

John Ho was quoted in a Business Insurance article discussing the anticipated changes to OSHA enforcement and regulations under the incoming Trump administration, including shifts in safety standards, enforcement practices, and agency leadership. It is suggested that the administration may be more pro-labor than before, and there could be a shift away from safety standards under development making enforcement more difficult. Key issues, such as the proposed heat standard and the controversial walkaround rule, may face delays or revisions, with concerns that these changes could complicate inspections. Despite this, the administration may focus more on high-risk sectors, such as construction. However, John noted, "We fully expect in the safety arena, you’re not going to see much more regulations moving forward," suggesting that while enforcement will continue, it may be less structured, making it harder for OSHA to take legal action without clear standards.
