Valerie Sworn has been named to the “Top 40 Under 40” in Texas by the National Black Lawyers (NBL) Association. This exclusive recognition is reserved for the top 40 under 40 African American lawyers in each state, recognized for their outstanding legal skills and professional contributions. Membership is exclusively by invitation, based on referrals from existing members, the Executive Committee, and independent research. The NBL reviews each potential member’s notable achievements, settlements, nominations from leading lawyers, and several other evaluation factors before extending an invitation to the Top 40 Under 40 in each state.
Valerie concentrates her practice on complex insurance litigation in both state and federal courts. She represents clients in fatality litigation, including wrongful death, survivorship, premises liability, gross negligence, vicarious liability, and negligent entrustment. With more than a decade in practice, including seven years as house counsel with major national insurers and three years as an ADA in the Galveston County District Attorney's Office, Valerie's broad experience includes general civil litigation, family law, and criminal law.
