At noon today, the mayor is scheduled to announce that the entire District of Columbia will operate under an agency-specific telework schedule, with the intent to continue to deliver essential services and to keep critical systems and services operating from Monday, March 16, through Tuesday, March 31.
We are monitoring this system closely to learn about how this teleworking will impact:
-
Pending matters before the District of Columbia Council;
-
Pending applications before the District’s zoning agencies — such as the Zoning Commission, the Board of Zoning Adjustment, the Historic Preservation Review Board and the Department of Transportation’s Public Space Committee;
-
Review and issuance of building permits and other permits by the District’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs;
-
The processing of inspection requests to the District’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs; and
-
The operation of the District’s Recorder of Deeds.
Every action possible is being taken to ensure this closure does not cause disruption to projects. However, slowdowns are anticipated in the issuance of permits and other approvals during the next two weeks.
