NYC Council Holds Charter Meeting
Last Wednesday, the NYC Council held their Charter meeting, where they introduced multiple pieces of legislation. The Charter meeting is the first Stated meeting of the calendar year. The Council introduced legislation related to health insurance coverage for city employees and retirees, a change that could save the city up to $600 million per year. Legislation was also introduced calling upon the MTA to inspect every subway surveillance camera on a quarterly basis. You can find all of the bills that were introduced here.
NYS Legislature Session Kicks Off
The New York State Senate and Assembly kicked off the 2023-2024 session last Wednesday. New committee chairs have been selected, with Assemblymember Amy Paulin serving as the new Health Chair, Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal taking over the Housing Committee, and Assemblymember Deborah Glick becoming Environmental Conservation Chair. Additionally, the Senate Judiciary Committee will expand from 15 to 19 lawmakers in the coming legislative session.
Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies Adds Katrell Lewis
