Louis Molina Appointed as Assistant Deputy Mayor for Public Safety

Mayor Adams announced the appointment of Louis Molina as Assistant Deputy Mayor for Public Safety. Molina has served as Commissioner of the NYC Department of Correction since the beginning of the Adams administration. As Assistant Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, Molina will coordinate city agencies’ outreach on public safety matters.

Election Day Tomorrow, November 7

The general election will be held tomorrow, November 7. All 51 City Council members are on the ballot, although 14 incumbents are running unopposed. Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island District Attorneys and judgeships will also be running, and there are also two proposed amendments to the stated constitutions. NYC Council Passes and Introduces Legislation

Last Thursday, the NYC Council convened a Stated meeting, where they passed and introduced multiple pieces of legislation. The Council passed an addition to the Sweet Truth Act, requiring chain restaurants to post icons for items that contain added sugar. Legislation was also passed on the detection of sickle cell disease. The Council introduced a bill requiring that any developer on a project receiving city assistance pay workers a minimum combined wage package of at least forty dollars per hour. Ahead of Veterans Day, the Council also introduced bills relating to demographic data on veterans, and community outreach on mental health resources for veterans.
