Mayor Adams Delivers State of the City Address

On Wednesday, Mayor Adams delivered his third State of the City address, laying out his vision for the year ahead. He focused his speech on public safety, economic recovery, job growth, public spaces, and sanitation. Adams proposed the creation of a new NYC Department of Sustainable Delivery focused on city delivery workers and a new Tenant Protection Cabinet. He also designated social media as a public health threat for teenagers, and announced plans to build over 10,000 units of affordable housing city land. Adams also mentioned that plans will be coming from the Administration soon, including a Green Economy Action Plan and Women Forward NYC.

Mayor Adams Announces 14 Judicial Appointments and Reappointments

Mayor Adams announced 14 judicial appointments and reappointments. The appointments included two new Family Court judges and three new Criminal Court Judges, all of whom were previously serving as interim judges. Two Family Court judges, six Criminal Court judges, and one interim Civil Court judge were also reappointed.

Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins Makes Appointment to IRC

Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins has appointed Dennis Walcott to the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission. Walcott previously served as Chair of the New York City Districting Commission. The IRC will soon be redrawing congressional lines, which are due by February 28.
