Kara concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation and life insurance. Kara has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country, with a variety of experience in drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, as well conducting and managing all aspects of discovery, preparing for mediation and trial, and coordinating and developing overall litigation strategy. Prior to joining the firm, Kara was a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York, where she represented clients in complex commercial matters, with an emphasis on product liability, insurance, mass torts, and contract dispute matters.
Kara's pro bono experience includes successfully representing single mothers in child custody and support proceedings. She has assisted undocumented women seeking temporary visas under the Violence Against Women Act and brought a class action against the Indiana Department of Child Services for violations of foster children's constitutional and statutory rights.
Kara earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law, where she was a senior editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Bucknell University.
