James focuses his practice on complex tort litigation, insurance coverage, and subrogation disputes, with experience at the state and federal levels. James has handled matters involving fatalities, multi-state insurance coverage disputes, breach of contract, bad faith and insurance fraud allegations, commercial disputes, and consumer protection violations. He also works regularly with mediators to resolve disputes short of trial.
Before joining the firm, James was an associate at a full-service defense firm in Dallas, where he defended some of the nation’s largest retailers and trucking companies against claims of premises liability, trucking accidents, and pharmaceutical negligence. He also advised insurance carriers on coverage disputes and defended against first-party actions.
James earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he served as an articles editor for the Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law and was a member of the moot court board. He also volunteered with the Forsyth County Teen Court and the Forsyth County Public Defender’s Office. He earned his B.A. from Trinity College, where he competed in track and field during each of his four years.
