James Mullins

Associate

James focuses his practice on insurance litigation and brings years of experience in both state and federal courts. His clients benefit from his skill in taking expert, party, and witness depositions, drafting and arguing evidentiary and dispositive motions, and when necessary, representing clients at trial.

Before joining the firm, James was an associate with a regional Seattle law firm focused on health care and medical malpractice, where he primarily defended health care providers and institutions in professional negligence, corporate negligence, and nursing home claims. For four years before that, he worked for a civil litigation firm, concentrating on motor vehicle torts, premises liability, product liability, construction defect, Consumer Protection Act, real property, and workplace injury claims.

James began his legal career as a public defender, carrying a large misdemeanor caseload, representing clients at all stages of proceedings, and trying three cases to jury verdict with two acquittals.

James earned his J.D. in 2017 from the University of Washington School of Law, where he held externships with two U.S. District Court judges, the Honorable Robert Lasnik of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and the Honorable Ann Aiken of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. He graduated magna cum laude from Gonzaga University with his B.A. in religious studies. Before law school, James was a high school teacher, teaching subjects including world history, ethics, and social justice and coaching Special Olympics teams.
