Leni Cummins addresses the Elliman Property Management breach and what it means to condominium boards and their employees in The Real Deal. Although industry experts acknowledge that the breach is a wake-up call and there is a need for greater data security, these experts do not see the hack as a threat to Elliman’s reputation, in part due to the frequency of data breaches in today’s world.
Leni, who represents co-op and condo boards throughout New York City, has not received any panicked calls from clients in buildings where Elliman is the manager.
Although there has not yet been any evidence of identity theft, it’s often the motivation behind a hack. The damage can occur years after a breach, after the hacker resells the data.
