Scott Bettridge was quoted in HR Dive discussing employers using E-Verify for Form I-9. Starting August 1, 2023, employers using the E-Verify program can use an alternative process for reviewing Form I-9. This new process eliminates the need for employers to retain the original copy of the form. This process can be beneficial for remote employees as this can be done electronically. "Employers that use the alternative process may want to keep a copy of employees’ documentation — both front and back — to show that a full inspection was done. They also may want to document the live video aspect of the process in some other way, such as printing out meeting invitations or taking a snapshot of the video call," said Scott.
